Bevel Gear Issue

I've been working on a bevel gear for the past few hours and it took me almost an hour just to get this one spike through the side. There has to be a way to put this spike all the way around without doing the planes again right? I don't know the next step and I can't find any forums that explained it. I'm also not sure if I'm doing it the most complicated way possible or not, I feel like there should be an easier way than just making several angles planes.
