Is there a quick way to perform a screen capture(.jpg) without going through a PRINT function or PRINT SCREEN?

You can save a .png in the Print function (see below image made with Lightshot).

Most OS's come with a screenshot tool built-in. 

It saves to the clipboard so you literally window select what you want to screenshot, then paste into an email or something.

You can also save the screenshot to a file too if you want. 

Not sure what it's called on mac. But windows calls it snip
