Error when attempting to loft

I've been trying to loft this hollow extrusion here but it says that it's a loop and I can't loft on it. The thing is, I previously lofted off of a hollow extrusion. I'm confused.

You may need to split your circle using the split function in sketch. It's next to trim.

I'd start by splitting into quadrants to start

As a rule a solid loft does not handle profiles with inner loops. I'd like to see the case in which you made it work. Usually for design like this we recommend building solid first and then using shell feature to give it desired thickness.

Then how would I make a hollow loft? That would make things easier.
