Locking taper pin to be fitted when assembly complete

Working on a basic assembly. A bolt with a nut screwed on. Once the nut is in the right place I need to lock it with a taper pin. I can create the tapered hole in the nut (or bolt) but cannot go through both the nut and the bolt when they are assembled. Ive tried the ' Edit in Context command which will only let me put a hole in the nut or bolt but not both. Any ideas

There are a few ways to go about this.

It sounds like your simplest way from this point will be to modify the nut with the hole fully modeled. Then edit the bolt in-context and cut the hole into the bolt using the hole in the nut as a reference.

Honestly i would only modify the nut and not the bolt, then call out 'drill and dowel at assembly' on the drawing

Many thanks John. Ive done it the way you suggest but had hoped I could have done it in an assembly
