Need help with extruding Sketch

micheael_nicolmicheael_nicol Member Posts: 2

Hello,

I am trying to extrude the shape above. The shape is made up of lines which are supposed to represent cables on the golden gate bridge. The issue is that It is not allowing me to extrude the lines and I am not sure what to do.

I tried then offsetting all the lines on the shape as seen in the second picture. This worked only for the arches and not the lines themselves. I am not sure why it is not allowing me to extrude my offset lines, since they should now be boxes. Any ideas?

You can only extrude lines into Surfaces (see option at top of Extrude dialog) - for a solid there needs to be an enclosed (shaded) area in the sketch.

You can extrude the surface, like you're showing, then use the Thicken command to make it solid.
