chamfer problem

so im trying to chamfer on an edge, but it wont allow me to do it. i looked and found no obstructions. can you tell me why?

    If you could please share a link to the document, I might be able to give a better answer. From what I can see in the screenshot I think your issue could be related to the ‘Shell 1’ feature. If the block was shelled from the bottom after it was extruded, it is possible that the chamfer is overlapping that shell which results in an error. See the attached screenshots for an example. Try increasing the thickness of the wall in the shell feature.
