Taking a 3d surface (STEP File) turning it into a sketch, to use as a template on a different part.

How can I take a 3d surface and turning it into a sketch, so I can use it as a template to make mounting post on a different part.  Example I have STEP file of a circuit board.  I want to transfer the mounting hole of the circuit board to make mounting post on a different part.
