spiral parts

Hi, I am trying to create a spiral part using the loft feature but for some reason the last loft section doesn't carry on but changes direction. I can produce it using surfaces but that will affect shelling, etc:
Is there any way that I can control the direction of the loft?
Thanks,
Jon

There are a few tricks to it:
Once you match one set of connections, minimize that set of connections in order to start another set of connections.
