Can't sketch on Imac Catalina, no visible planes

I've been using a Macbook pro but I'd really like to use my iMac. There are no planes visible and they aren't hidden. Ive tried everything I can think of. I have been using the software a bit so I believe I am doing everything I should. Any suggestions?
