Why can i sometimes not select certain feature in my model?

Hello Everyone,
Problem:
When using features like extrude, circular pattern or other features i sometimes cant select the things i wanna select.
Example:
Down below you can see im doing the learing course and i wanna use circular pattern for the small hole in the middle but i can only select the entire part.
If i click in my feature list on the left nothing happens.
However i can select everything on the "axis of pattern" menu.
Just not with "entities to pattern"
There will be and example of 2 pictures down below with some text to explain.
I struggled with this more in the past and hopefully someone can tell me what i am doing wrong.

Picture 2: Showing when i try to mouse over the part it selects the whole part and not specific features.
Problem:
