Troubleshooting shared file

I have a student who says he shared to documents with me, and sent me screenshots showing the share form with my email address included and appropriate checkboxes checked.  However, I cannot find it in the "Shared with me" folder.  The student did successfully share two other documents, but those are the only two that show up.  I'm wondering how to figure out what is going on.  What can I do, what directions should I give to the student, or what questions can I ask, to help us figure out what the issue is?

    Ask them to send the URL by email/slack/teams etc. then if shared correctly, you'll be able to open it.
