How to snap parts to a plane in an assembly?

Hi folks.
I've been a numpty. I have 4 parts nicely nicely mated together in an assembly but was careless with where I initially placed them in the workspace. (That is to say they're aligned with each other but not with any of the default planes.)
So how can a re-orientate my cluster of widgets to something more sensible? I have a cuboid as one of the parts so being able to snap the faces to a plane would be nice.
Any help appreciated.
Cheers,
Owen S.

You mate your assembly to the origin - don't try to mate to the view plane cube like I was trying to do for ages. You may need to un-hide the origin - it should be the first item in the parts list. Check out this excellent animation that explains it better than I could...
