Change Transparency/Opacity or color of lines on parts

Is there a way to change this? The transparency/opacity feature for the surfaces would be awesome if the edge lines could be lightened or changed to a lighter grey. In other words, using the transparency/opacity feature on surfaces just turns the view into a wire model instead of a translucent model.

    What if you select view mode 'Shaded without edges' and then reduce opacity?
