Create a gear teeth on an oval ring gear

I'm trying to put teeth into a oval ring gear. Similar to something like this picture. I can make the outside oval, but for some reason cannot make the teeth and pattern it around the oval. I also have a larger ring and many more teeth so making them individually would be a large task.
