sweep won't respond to my clicking on a curve

I am trying to create a simple thread on a cylinder, which I have done in the past with success. This time I created a cylinder with a helix wrapped around it. I created a plane normal to the end of the helix. I then drew an equilateral triangle on the new plane. Selected the sweep tool. but the helix refused to respond to mouse clicks on the helix when trying to set the path. I later created a random curve and tried to select that curve as the path but again no response to my mouse clicks.
I have tried several variations over a couple of days with no luck selecting the path. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Scotty— This morning all is normal, my sweep is working as expected.. I don't know why it wasn't before, but i'm glad to have it back. Thanks for taking the time to respond to my query.
Scotty… I started playing with the project this morning to verify it was not working. To my surprise sweep started working correctly after I signed in, so I can't send you a non-working version. Here is what I was paying with this morning, no matter what I try it is still working,
