New forum layout: any way to reduce the wasted space?

eric_pestyeric_pesty Member Posts: 2,115 PRO

The new forum layout has so much blank space it's ridiculous… Might be good for mobile/small screens but most of us CAD users have decent screen setups and would probably prefer to see more information at once instead of being forced to scroll for no reason (at least I do)!

Also what's up with the bold font all the time?

Anyway… not a fan of the new layout…

Also don't see a way to edit a post?
    Just wanted to add:

Thanks for listening to my rant, I feel better already!

@eric_pesty Looks like someone listened. I didn't recognize it as a new forum layout anyway, I tought it was a malfunction. Happy to see it is better now. :0)

I thought someone was trying to make improvements. Which seems there is a lot of room for. Back to regular scheduled program it looks like.

Blood pressure back within normal values! Thanks devs!

It is not a new layout. It's just a broken layout. I see broken CSS styles in multiple places, some icons are missing and all the text is bold. It happened about a day ago. I thought the change would be rolled back quickly, but no.

It’s amazing how things are arranged here. One of the developers managed to break the forum, making it significantly harder to use. No one reacted for a more than a day. Then, you politely ask about the “new forum layout.” My critical comments never made it past pre-moderation. Maybe there were other dissatisfied remarks, but they were censored as well. Well, okay… Apparently, this is a forum where everyone is supposed to be happy, and only that tone is welcome—even if someone is pointing out an obvious mistake. I’ve never understood, and probably never will, such a system.

@gregory_iii all new users are manually moderated so it can take time for comments to appear. It also might surprise you that we, as a CAD software developer, are not experts in forum software and use a third party provider (Vanilla forums), so if they break it, we report it, they fix it (mostly).

@NeilCooke, I understand that part. I don’t understand why there was no visible reaction for over 30 hours. But now I have a better understanding of why your software is the way it is—the overall approach.

@gregory_iii what do you mean, the overall approach?
