trying to put a return mitre on end of shape use sweep and looks like what i want but its highlighted in red and wont create a valid sweep.
im sure there has to be a simle way to do this

The sweep used on the end is folding over it's self give the error. Attached link is one of a few ways to accomplish what you seem to be looking for.

Might need to be done in 2 steps. If the surface is intersecting itself, it won't work.
