Is there a way to see who made a copy of someones work?

I have students that I know are cheating, it would be great if I could click on the copies counter and see a list of who made a copy. Is there any way to do that?

You can look at their history, click on the versions button on the left hand side. You can see a complete list of edits, when they were done, and by who. The usual giveaway is the created name and date.

If you're in an Enterprise, there are all kinds ways to peek at your students' data. Otherwise, yes look at Versions and History.

Students really cheat on CAD? I thought the ones who take a CAD class are genuinely interested in it.

You've been out a school for a few year haven't you? LOL

It's also funny that in school your not allowed to cheat. But on the job you try to copy (cheat) everything you can to save time.

I was gonna say, I'm always cheating off of @MichaelPascoe's work. Cheating is a valuable skill in industry.

To answer the question, there is not a way to check who copied a document directly, that I know of. You have to check the history of each persons document to see how it was created.

This is highly requested functionality by teachers. You could open an improvement request so that people can vote on it.

That said, I'm with @Derek_Van_Allen_BD on this one. Save yourself some headache's. Those who want to learn will learn. Those who don't, will not, even if you force them to "learn".

Note: The history check probably wont work well if you use Renaissance to copy a list of part studio features. It will most likely re-create the history as well. 😎

The other method is of course to sit the little darlings down. Give them a simple drawing and ask them to CAD it up infront of you, just to check…
