Unexpected behavior Advanced Configuration Workflows / Exercise: Configuring Multi-part Part Studios

Specifically at Step 11 the student is instructed to:
Double check the Feature list. There is one more feature that is red, the Base Fillets.
Switch the configuration to the Square Base. Double check the Feature list, again. All the features should build without errors in this configuration.
This not the case. When switching to the Square Base configuration, the model breaks, because the Extrude 1 feature is seeking the missing Part of Round Base as the merge scope, when it has been suppressed in the configuration list.
If you fix it by selecting the Part named Base, then change configuration to the Round Base, the model breaks because the Extrude 1 feature is seeking the missing Part of Square Base as the merge scope.
I believe that the reason this occurs is because the Base Fillets merge scope is not binding to the Part named Base, but to the Extrude feature that is named Square Base. But I don't know what I am supposed to do.
Please advise.
