V2843 has been teasing the capability in the logs since it dropped but to my knowledge nobody at Onshape has announced anything about it publicly. It might even be a long way off, but I keep an eye on the errorstringenum file for exciting keywords every update.

Hi Nick, can you explain? As long as there is a version, you can branch. How does view only mode prevent this?

@NeilCooke with the latest update user needs to exit view only mode to branch. This is an extra step from where we were before this update. I propose allowing the option to create a branch from anytime, including view only. This would save a step from having to load the active workspace to unlock branching capabilities. With this new view only function it is now extra steps to branch, which is a productivity loss.
