When will Onshape handle variables and equations for parameters?

I'm looking to fully move from Autodesk Inventor and need a variable and equation handler for parameters to make the task of organizing and creating unique constraints based on these variable and equations.

    For part families and building relationships this is very key.

    We can't give a definitive timeframe on when anything, including variables and equations, until they are ready to be shipped.  While we have plans on what to work on, we don't release anything to the customer unless we feel that it is ready.

    @jramlsey I'D be happy just to be able to link an existing dimension in the current dimension dialogue equation, is that on the cards at all? or just a bad idea?
