How does one select for defining an extrude?

When I started a project last month, whenever I wanted to add an extrude, it was easy to select the sketch. Now, once I have made an extrude, I cannot get back to the sketch to make an additional extrude.
I am trying to build up the lid to an electronics enclosure. I first extruded the flat surface that will become the top. Then I formerly was able to extrude the outer edges to form the walls using rectangles in the base sketch. I can't seem to do that now.

If you go to the feature tree and hover over the sketch you want, you can either right-click on the sketch and select "show" OR you can select the crossed-out eye icon to the right of it.
