How to engrave text?

How can you engrave text?
I've been using the curved text feature script but I think there are still a few bugs? The "add" doesn't actually add to the solid model and instead creates a new part for every letter.
And the cutout option just extrudes all the way through the part?
Thanks for any help!

The only thing I can think of is your surface reference doesn't actually rest on the body you are trying to boolean with. The feature will try to do a boolean add with everything it can if 'Raised Add' is selected. If your 'Base Surface' is offset, the feature will create new parts for every letter instead of failing completely.

@drcontempo Jason's guess is reasonable, but if that doesn't work please share a document that you are having issues with and I will have a look.
I am not aware of any outstanding bugs with the 3d text feature at the moment, but that doesn't mean they don't exist!
