Boolean operation

i want to design a rectangle, then import an .stp file of an aluminum profile.....in order to make a cut operation thus create a pocket on my rectangle to the exact dimensions of the aluminum profile. Is this possible,because till now ,no success.

As long as the parts are intersecting you can use Boolean subtract.Senior Director, Technical Services, EMEAI5
