help with extrude/remove?

i need to remove a cut out for my power button on a phone case but when i go to extrude / remove it says no merge scope selected. but i clicked merge with all so any help?

Your cut will be going in the wrong direction. Press the flip direction arrow on the UI or click the manipulator arrow on the screen.Senior Director, Technical Services, EMEAI5
