Sheet Metal-Cannot resolve entities when finishing

Alan_35Alan_35 Member Posts: 2 PRO
Hi

I have made a very simple box, defined the bends and the rips, but when I try to finish the sheet metal it has the error "did not regenerate properly - cannot resolve entities".

I am trying to learn how to use Onshape so that I can move my design office over from Solid Edge

    Alan,

    Like yourself I am looking to make a transistion from Solid Edge once all the pieces are in place.

    Look at the attached sample and see if this helps:

    Why do you need to use the Finish sheet metal model feature? In a lot of cases it is not required to be used at all.

    The Finish sheet metal model feature is meant to say you are done with lasercutting/water jetting/plasma cutting the part and are going on to post processing operations. So you can then make non-normal cuts, add bodies to your model (formed features need to be done like this for now), and use any other Onshape feature on the model. As we make more "sheet metal friendly" features you'll probably need to use this feature less frequently. All changes made after this feature wont be reflected in the flat view.

    The screenshot you have has nothing in the Sheet metal parts field, therefore the feature has nothing to be applied to (this is why your feature is red). Just add the sheet metal part to the field. We make you select the sheet metal model only because you can have multiple sheet metal models going at once and you might just want to end one of them.

    Hope this helps you guys with the eventual switch! If there are any other sheet metal, or general Onshape questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

    @Jason_S

    Good eye.

    I was looking at this yesterday and couldn't figure out what was wrong.
    Having text in the field was a good addition a while back, But having text in the field kinda makes it look like it has a selection already.

    Can we have the text right justified when its just a label, or something more noticeable?
    I make this mistake often enough on my own as well.

    I put in an Improvement Request for this, please vote up if you agree
