How to cut a shape on a cylinder "keeping proportions"

Hello!
I need to cut a shape from a sketch on a cylinder. However, I do not want that the cut will be a projection of the sketch plane over the cylinder, but the cut is the result of "folding" the shape on the the cylinder surface.
Is there any way to copy a sketch to a curved surface? Or any other way to solve this?
Hope I could explain myself...
Thanks a lot for any advice!
