How to add a raised surface (Button like object) to the curved side of a cylinder?

I added an ellipse to my drawing, but it ended up right in the centre of the cylinder. I tried to extrude it until it popped out, but it doesn't seem to work. Any ideas? (I'm trying to make a button on a flashlight)
(Also, if anyone can figure out how to add a raised grip texture onto the handle of the flashlight, in a similar position to the button it would be greatly appreciated.)

My approach to adding the button, was to create a new sketch, draw the ellipse and then extrude it. You can see it here : https://cad.onshape.com/documents/f72c41eebe134eed3624b9cb/w/ec737892357067722ad135ee/e/637a186242dada2501d2e4a5
You can use a similar approach to define the raised grip texture. The difference here would be, you'll want to create a series of raised grips instead of the ellipse.
