I imported an assembly from solid works, but when I open the file through Onshape nothing appears.  Any ideas?

After uploading a file it will appear as a new tab. In order to use the file in Onshape you need to RMB click on the tab and choose 'Translate'.
Original file (tab) can be then removed or if you need to translate again (in different orientation maybe?) it's there for you.

How did you import the assembly?  We can only understand SolidWorks assemblies that are part of pack and go files that have the name of the assembly as the same name as the zip file (default settings of pack and go).  If you uploaded a bunch of solid part files along with a solid assembly file, we don't know what the hierarchy is to patch the assembly back together.
