Trouble with vendor supplied model

I've downloaded a model from vendor in .stp. format. Onshape translates the .stp file and creates an Onshape parts studio. I can open the part studio and look at the model in OnShape. However, when I go to my assembly model to insert the part, it does not appear as being available. Its a large file, around 4MB. Whats up?

It may help if you post a screenshot of what you're seeing.  It's possible that you have some filters active in the insert dialog that should be changed?

Notice how the "Parts" filter is on, and I'm searching in the "Current document"
