name the dimension. example: H = 1.2in

i need to provide a name for each value in the sketch like stud length, stud unthreaded length, etc.

    You can't add names like that in a sketch but you can create variables as a feature before the sketch and link the dimension in the sketch 

    The other thing you can do is configure the dimension and use a table to drive the sizes. It may not help but another really cool feature is being able to use the configuration table to drive sketch text.
