Derived Parts Retain Mate Connectors That Cant be Hidden

I created a new part studio tab in a workspace and used parts derived from parts in other part studios in the same workspace.
The derived parts bring in attached mate connectors that can't be deleted or hidden. Like this:
How can I derive parts and not create mate connectors, or hide these mate connectors?

Click the eye icon next to the derived feature to hide the mate connectors.Senior Director, Technical Services, EMEAI5
