Struggling with text orientation

I'm trying to put extruded text on opposite sides of a simple object. Let's for, example, say the text is "FRONT" and "BACK". I can place the "FRONT" text OK, but when I place the "BACK" text on the opposite side on the object the text is backwards, and often upside down as well (but oddly not always upside down). I can't figure out how to get it so it reads in proper direction.
Here is an example. If you flip the disk around a vertical axis to see the back, you'll see the problem.

Your example displays properly for me? Neither backward or upside down (when rotated vertically, I suppose it's upside down if spun sideways around a vertical axis).
What happens if you write the text on the 'front' plane and mirror it then remove the original? Would that work?0 -

The reversed text is a bit more of a fiddle in the case where there is not a parallel face on the opposite side of the part on which to conveniently sketch the desired text, no?0 -
If there were no parallel face, I would offset a plane and if after two tries i couldn't get it to work, i would thicken the back face as a new part and use the new parallel face to do the same thing.andrew_troup said:@philip_thomas

I knew you'd say that ! (it is, indeed, a "bit more of a fiddle")
It would be scraping the bottom of the barrel, I feel, to resort to such inelegant kludges as creating a 180 degree (reversed plane) by stacking up two 90 degree intermediate steps...
I look forward to the day when we have a "Flip Plane" command in Onshape.
I'm not aware that even SW has got around to that as yet. I'm not averse to a bit of flip flopping!0 -

I still don't get this and it doesn't work for me. This is _not_ about rotation, it's about text direction. I don't get "Back" upside down on the back-side of my part, I get it in reverse order, i.e. kcab with each letter flipped horizontally. I need a FLIP not a rotation.
What am I missing?

It's a nice example although you are on the _sides_ of the object, not the front or the back. Also, can you explain how to do this instead of showing the finished product?philip_thomas said:Getting a lot of "Text" Questions.

It is a bit tangential to your conversation, but I have just finished a FeatureScript that makes it easy to add text along a curved surface, adjust spacing, etc:
You can adjust the text orientation, but also the height, spacing, and the curve along which the text rides:
