Importing multiple parts into the same document

YaroslavYaroslav Member Posts: 2
Hello !

I have a few parts that were made using Inventor. How do I import them into the same document ? I am trying to assemble them into one assembly.

If I choose to upload them then each part ends-up in a separate document. And then I can not see them from the assembly document.

What am I missing ?

Tnx,
Yaro

Try exporting from inventor as a step assembly, then translate in Onshape flattening to a part studio.

Bruce, thank you for the idea! I downloaded the files from GrabCad, and can not find a way to download the whole assembly as step ... Any alternative ideas?

    Yaroslav-

    SW multibody/parasolids/step assemblies are supported.

To get them into one part studio, click on the "flatten assembly" when translating.

In addition to Bruce's link, I'd also look at groups: https://cad.onshape.com/help/#mategroup.htm

@Yaroslav You can import multiple parts and assemblies into a single document by opening a document and selecting the "+" icon in the bottom left of your screen.

Check out our documentation on uploading and translating here:  https://cad.onshape.com/help/#uploadfiles.htm
