Part transparency?

I'll apologize in advance for coming at this from a SolidWorks perspective...

Is there a way to change the way a part appears in an assembly so that it is transparent? This is valuable in SW as it allows you to visualize component relationships inside of other components, without actually hiding anything.

Currently you can't do this within the assembly, but you can change the transparency of the part in the parts studio and then it will also be transparent in the assembly. I think there is a Improvement Request for this already. You can search for it and vote on it - the more votes it gets, the more likely that they are to add it.

To edit the transparency of the part in the part studio, right-click on the part name or the part itself and select 'Edit appearance'.

It should be possible to override (attach different appearance attributes) a part's appearance attributes on individual instances of it in an assembly.

So i see this is a pretty OLD thread, has there been any progress to easily make a single part transparent while in the Assembly studio or is it still this convoluted method as shown above that only allows the opposite?

If you open the BOM, you can change the appearance in there

Changing the appearance from the BOM is equivalent to changing the appearance of the part.

What is needed is the ability to specify an appearance override of part instances in the assembly. This appearance override is something that would be saved in the assembly's configuration (if and when there is such a thing as assy configs).
