Unable to create drawing from imported part

I have a solidworks part which is not solid. It is just a shell. I presume it is because of not being a solid part? My next question would then be, can I convert the imported part to a solid?

Onshape does not currently support creating drawings from surfaces. I will add you to that improvement.
In the meantime you have a couple of options to turn the surface)s) into a solid and then create the drawing:
Use the thicken feature to add thickness to the surface

Use the enclose feature to make a solid from the surface by selecting additional surfaces, solid faces and planes
