Internal volume measuring tool

I think a useful addition to the measuring tool or maybe a feature script would be the ability to select parts in an assembly that define a closed volume and have that value displayed.  Right now the way I did it was create a part studio in context of an assembly and create a part that was the internal volume using Boolean etc on the part until it represented the internal volume and then use the mass properties to display it's volume.

My assembly was pretty simple, I imagine something more complex like a pipe manifold, tank, or other fluid handling machinery would be much more difficult and time consuming to have to do this.

    @bill_de_la_vega This is a tough one.  The way you did it would be how I would do it.  This is not something that is simple to do as there can be many nooks.  I am not sure this would be something we would add as a native tool but it is something you might be able to build with FS.

    They're not doing anything special here. I could modify my Simplify script to do this and it would be much more efficient. For now, you can do a before/after volume check and calc the difference.

    I used NeilCooke's Simplify tool to "Remove open voids", clicking on the Edge of the hole in the guitar box.  This created a Surface over the hole.

    I then did an Enclose and selected all the Parts forming the sides of the box plus the new Surface.

    This gave me a new Part, which is the shape of the internal volume.  I assigned this a material, custom, with the density of air, and made it semi-transparent.

    I can get the surface area of a face of this volume with the Measure tool, and the volume with the Mass Properties tool.

    It works great, gave me everything I wanted.
