negative extrude

I want to do the extrude where it makes a hole along the diagonal line.  How do u do that? I had notes to do pencil / use, but I don't know if that's right

    Extrude/Remove will remove material or if you are creating a hole, use the hole feature (which requires a sketch with a point in it).

    You can also use sweep with a sketch face and a path/line instead of extrude

    I did extrude/remove and it only did worked on 1 half.  I don't understand the options. How do I make it take affect on both sides?

    You need to check "second end position"
