Can someone please explain what a "Mixed Modeling Release" is?

At the bigging of the standard library reference we have a function "isAtInitialMixedModelingReleaseVersionOrLater()" Which works with one of my feature studios but not the other when I plug in "context" as the parameter. What is the purpose of this function?

Hi @christopher_dziuba - it doesn't do anything (yet). At Onshape Live '22 we previewed Mixed Modeling which will be available in a future release.

@christopher_dziuba currently a mesh is only usable in a partstudio and minimal number of functions will work on it.

Mixed modeling allows meshes to be used everywhere and all functions can handle them as normal geometry.

Why do we need this? Taking scanned or photogrammetry data in from the real world will come into CAD as a mesh. If you want to work with this data, you'll need a mixed modeling environment.

    check out realityscan
    check out sketchfab

Soon, with your phone, you'll be able to bring the world into OS and design.
