Best approach for a curved object?
I want to build & 3D print a model car and am getting frustrated because I can't get the rear end to look the way I want it to. Basically, it should be rounded in all directions and have a raised section behind the driver's seat, similar to classic race cars from the 1950s. Here are to two projects I've only reproduced… -
planeToWorld is off
I'm using planeToWorld in my feature script to get the coordinates of a 2d point in 3d space but what the function returns is off from what it should be. please help. i'm trying to generate a bevel gear using only feature script(a bit like the official spur gear feature scipt) and i have 2 planes ,one the generate the cone… -
Planetary Gears - Is this offset correct?

I just used a Feature Script to generate a Planetary Gear. I also designed one by myself based on the Spur Gear Feature script. Both show the same effect. There's an offset between the Sun and Planet gear, but there's no offset between the Planet and Ring gear. SunTeeth=9, PlanetTeeth=9, RingTeeth=27, Is this correct from… -
Making a rod end bearing need help
I'm new to this and not even sure how to phrase this. I've been using Rhino for the past 9 years and I recognize this user interface as being vastly superior but it's confusing me no end right now. I started off trying to make a rod end bearing (I titled it mm-4 Rod end bearing) for those who would like to take a look at… -
Re: How to calculate inner/ring gear profile and matching helical pitch
I've only worked with double helical (herringbone) gears in OpenSCAD. In that program the process for making these gears is to take a normal gear in two dimensions and move it slightly in the z direction and then rotate it slightly and perform a loft. Depending on the thickness of the gear you may have to do this several… -
Using the planetary gear script and telling it to make 3 planet gears, but it doesn't.
It creates a single sun, ring, and planet gear with some sketch circles where the other gears should be but they don't actually generate. I want to make a carrier and I'd need all three to be there to reference. I don't see a way to just enable this and sure I could duplicate it in the assembly but I just feel like I'm… -
Why doesn't the spur gear feature script update properly when using a variable studio
When you create a variable studio and add variables like gear pitch and teeth number, and then create gears in a part studio based on those variables, the gear outputs correctly. But if you go back and edit the variable amount in the Var studio and go back to the part studio, it generates wrong. The variable names are… -
Re: Planetary gear mates
They are tricky. It all comes down to teeth number when getting it to mesh correctly. Follow these governing equations. And remember that the ratio you are calculating is the ratio of the input "the sun gear", to the output "the carrier". So set a gear ratio between the sun gear to the carrier. Follow these general… -

Re: How do I reduce extremely long assembly regeneration times?
I'm temporarily working on my old lap top which is slow compared to the desk top. When I first opened your document it took a while but after that it sped up . There does seem to be a lot of detail. If you can remove some of the detail I think it will get notably faster. Like the filleted corners in the rail hole corners.…
