evaluateQuery gives runtime error
Hi, I'm trying to create my own featurescript to produce a helical gear - primarily as a learning exercise. Its exercising me!! I'm developing the code in stages and the current iteration is shown below. The problem I'm experiencing is that the generation fails and Featurescript reports: 'Call evaluateQuery(Context,… -
How to find the radius or diameter of a curve in Featurescript
I'm trying to amend some code to generate a spur gear - eventually I want it to create a helical gear, but I have to walk before I can run! The starting position is that I will have created a part studio with the relevant gears as blank extruded pieces. The diameter of the extrusions are the gear tip diameters as I'm… -

Spur Gear FeatureScript pressure angle slightly off?
Using your fabulous FeatureScript spur gear generator, I created a gear with a pressure angle of 14 1/2 degrees. I wanted to illustrate pressure angle for a presentation, so I made this sketch: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/688f55650b8e92fc98f95675/w/408b19c4414b5b1714d5a5dd/e/b47b9f32c37fbdd495a006a9 The… -

Re: cycloidal gear animation

don't know what kind of kimatics generates the outer profile but I have an example of cyclo gear when cylindrical teeth are stationary in the housing. anyway there are no fundamental difference between evolvental and cycloidal gearing since its all about rolling of cylindrical surfaces, so you need to use gear mate with… -
Re: Are gear mates really that hard to do in OnShape?

@wesley, mating gears is not particularly difficult in Onshape. Use REVOLUTE or other appropriate mates to constrain the motion of each gear individually. Then apply a Gear RELATION to those MATES. The attached screenshot illustrates a typical feature tree for this. Take a deep breathe and slowly repeat the phrase,… -
