Variable Section Body FS Help
Hi, I am working with the Variable Section Body FS to try and create a serpentine flexure hinge that has a variable width. I am currently running into issues with keeping the section centered around the path line. Does anyone have experience utilizing this feature script and can tell me what I am doing wrong or whether… -
Re: Embed Onshape Model in Website
Was looking this up today per an internal discussion and found this. Have y'all tried ARBase for this? Its super simple. Here's a REAL quick example I put together. And the code generated for testing... <iframe height="100%" width="100%" src="https://app.arbase.io/embed/a119e6f8-58e6-4593-bca5-e4bb55e70fb7"… -
Re: How do I make my Bezier curves curvature continuous?
That connection is already G2, which is probably just fine, especially since it will be hand polished anyway. If you really want it to be G3, and you like it flattening out, you can use 3 control points in a line at the ends. If you want all of it to have some curvature, you might want to play with the following… -
Re: How to Mate these Parts?
Hi @Don_Van_Zile Great screen mark ups :+1: I can't think of an easier method than Bruce's for just working in the assembly. If you've modeled the purple part in the same studio as the grey problem part then things get easier. You could:- (a) Use a layout sketch and project the width of the purple part onto it, use split… -
Re: Improvements to Onshape - June 18th, 2019
Tangency between two splines with a common end point constrains the splines to have the same direction at the end point (what is sometimes called G1 continuity). If you display curvature combs on both you will see that the combs line up but the width of the combs is probably different. Curvature continuity (caller G2… -
Re: Sheet Metal Tab - Subtraction Scope & Offset
@MBartlett21 that is very interesting that OS will sketch and cut on the flat pattern. I appreciate the tip. Feature tools like Holes, Chamfer/Fillet, etc. don't appear to be available though. I mentioned unfolding as a possible modeling approach for the Book End that @mark_leger posted recently. I succeeded in creating a… -
Re: Wires from Edges? Suggestions?
yahtzee! it's working. Everything from here on is just polish. I may eventually add a button to link width and depth dimensions and set dimension defaults to 5mm instead of 25mm, which is a good starting place for 3D printing. I'll work on those a bit in the next few days and report back if I get stuck. Thanks, folks! -
Re: FeatureScript User Community Spotlight
@brad_phelan the problem is that it a "universal tool" not only for the sweeps that may have some referrence axis, possibly there need a separate modification for particular kind of things like feed screws, but actually you can synchronize the feed of screw along the axis and the depth/width on the "sketch" stage of design…
