Re: What is the "proper" way to design a multi piece design with intertwined constraints
With the state of the system now, I can see two approaches: 1. Just make a Variable Studio and keep all relevant dimensions there. Changing a variable in there propagates the change to all Part Studios and Assemblies in the workspace. 2. The more Onshapey way: the top-level consumer is the Assembly, so it makes sense to… -
Re: How can I display a grid when I am drawing an sketch?
It took me a while to find that feature script. Sorry. There appear to be unaccessible copies out there, including the one in the document linked earlier. It does in fact someting quite like described, and it could maybe be put to some use, though I am afraid it is but a workaround for a proper grid. A grid would center on… -
Cylinder printing wrong size
New to CAD & 3d printing, I created a holder for glue sticks which are 20mm in diameter. It simple L shape with a cylinder sitting on top of it. The cylinder was 24mm in diameter. I used the shell function to hollow out the center of the cylinder, used a 2mm wall which should have left me with an opening in the cylinder of… -
Lego dimensions incorrect?
Hello there, i printed some individual Lego parts for my son and face some incorrect dimensions with larger column counts. It seems the script uses 7.8 mm for the distance of the circles. vector((0.78 + (c * 0.78)) + definition.dx, (0.78 + (r * 0.78)) + definition.dz) * centimeter, while the raster is 8mm, the width of the… -
New FeatureScript - Mortice and Tenon
Hello, after many attempts, I now have a working mortice and Tenon Script. The user selects the edge where the face side and face edge meet (the arris) And it creates both the tenon and mortice. The default width if the tenon is a third of the part and automatically haunches the tenon if the rail is flush with the top of… -

Re: What Size is it
Hi @derrick_womack At the bottom right of the screen are the measure and mass properties tool. If you click on two points or faces the measure tool will display the distance between them etc. You can click on the measure tool to see more info. Here's a link to the Measure Tool help documentation It sounds like you might… -

Re: Can I/How Do I Extrude A Notch From The Circumference Of A Solid Object?
Unfortunately I was not able to figure out the solutions you provided, but I was able to come up with something based on your idea of using planes: - Suppressed the extrude for the main body (the outer "lip" was its own extrude) - Created 2 planes bordering the edges of the notch I wanted to create, created splits at both… -
Re: Sheet metal, how could I change bend lines to perforations
You could do an extrude cut and remove the complete fold radius at the areas you want the perforation, to control the width of the perforation adjust the fold radius before doing the cut. Not ideal but should work. I try to avoid finishing sheet metal parts, whenever I do I seem to always add holes or cuts later and not…
