Re: Assemblies - I would love to see planes in assembly mode - what am I missing??
It's well worth the effort to learn working with mates. I went through the same issue when transitioning from other CAD programs, but in a relatively short period of time I got used to OS methods and havent looked back. The mate connectors are quite flexible once you get used to them and require less input and less mates than previous CAD. You won't miss having default planes.

Re: JOIN PARTS WITHOUT LOSING EACH PART'S APPAREANCE?
Also the resulting boolean will keep the properties (part name, appearance, material, description, etc...) of the first thing you select for the boolean operation so you can use this to your advantage, in this case select the black housing first (and apply face appearances to the faces of the button and contacts first)
Re: Assemblies - I would love to see planes in assembly mode - what am I missing??
If the left and right side structures of your grow chamber are symmetrical, I'd recommend reflecting that in your assembly structure. Only design the right side insert that, and then apply assembly mirror to the whole side frame subassembly, instead of individual parts. That'll get you around lots of confusing dependencies. In-context design would then happen only inside the side frame subassy, and not interfere with the top level assembly mirror.
Re: Custom Feature: Tweep
Made some minor improvements to surface quality with v6, mostly in loop cases.
Re: Web/three.js export with support for edges/animations
I've been working on a similar project of integrating onshape with threejs/babylonjs…
Re: Sketch: Circular pattern a spline
For some reason, you can't sketch pattern splines. You can use the feature pattern on surfaces or solids, or curves.

Re: Custom Feature: Amalgam Tag and Amalgamate
@romeograham one of our team members realized that we're always drawing our cabinet access panels the same way every time but people keep needing to ask about the paint clearances, so they're now redrawing a single standardized studio to amalgam that just does the whole door in one op for you.
It really might be the most useful thing I put out this year.
Looking for Beta Users: Qualica.ai - AI DFM Copilot
Hi everyone,
We’re building an AI powered DFM copilot for Onshape and are looking for a small group of engineers to try it before a public App Store release.
The goal is to give real-time, feature level manufacturability feedback while you’re designing, instead of after the part is already released.
What it can do today
- Analyzes parts directly in Onshape in real-time
- Identifies common manufacturability risks at the feature level (holes, walls, ribs, pockets, etc.)
- Explains why a feature may be risky based on process assumptions
- Highlights changes between revisions and how they impact manufacturability
We’re especially interested in feedback from people designing for low (prototype-level) to mid volume production for any mechanical part or process.
If you’re open to testing it and giving candid feedback (good or bad), please comment or DM me and I’ll share access details!

Re: how do i centre holes?
Most of the time, here's how I do it. Construction line corner to corner. Place point at center of construction line. - Scotty
