Modeling a cow catcher

A week or so ago I passed some time modelling a toy train.
One part gave me particular pain: the Cow Catcher
I could not figure out how to model that efficiently, it took me two planes two sketches and a sweep to model one bar and there are 13 bars to model.
So I'm wondering if there was a something I could have done to ease the pain.
Note that this is not a real train and not a serious project: in a real train/serious project I guess every bar would have to be modelled separately anyway because of the way they attach to the other components.
