How to shadow in drawings

I have been trying to figure out how to shadow these letters in Onshape for 3D printing actual emblems like this one. This is just an example.

It looks like you could use sketch text and then extrude with draft? Then create a base plate below?

You can try the ExtrudeInDirection FS developed by some Onshape folks ( @lana, @Tim_Fries ).

Allows you to select an extrusion direction (like SolidWorks extrude) and, of course, draft.
Also, when selecting those edges for draft, don't forget the time-saver "create selection":

In my trials the extrusion is good for the effect OP is after, but getting draft to work is another matter.
