Adding a lip to a composite curve on a shell

in General
My Genie Lamp 02 is going well and I have learned how to use the Shell and Split tools.

Now I need to add a lip to the upper part to fit inside the lower shell to prevent it sliding off.
I've had a look at the Thicken tool but I have failed to generate a surface from the composite curves involve. Can anyone suggest a technique for this?
Model: Genie Lamp 02.
