having dificulty using the extrude cut tool

hello
i am having a hard time using the extrude cut tool on a surface, it only goes all the way troug and when i type the number it highlights red and it does not show. i tried making a plane to the depht i needed but had the same result. the depth i need to cut off is .047, is that the readon it wont work?

To do a cut to a specified depth, the body you are cutting needs to be a solid body, not a surface body. This might be your problem.
Otherwise you will need to make your model "Public" using sharing, and post the URL to it here, so we can see what problem you are actually having.5
