Group, align, and distribute parts in an assembly

I'm not an ME, so my terminology may not be correct.
I'm working on a lot of models for electrical components for PCBs. I'm splitting everything by each component type get's its own Document, each individual component is a Part, then I'm presenting all the like parts using Assemblies.
What I would like to do is to evenly distribute the parts I inserted into an assembly and then align them all to a common Z-axis so I can render them nicely. I'm not immediately recognizing the tools to align and distribute like I'm trying to in the Assemblies. How is this done?
For reference, I have a public document called "SMD Resistor Arrays".
