Possible to sort BOM with Category?

brooke_spreenbrooke_spreen Member, Developers Posts: 115 ✭✭✭
Before Categories were released, we had a property called "Production Process"....examples would be "Milling", "Laser", "Cast", etc. This was used for sorting and partitioning the BOM during procurement.

It seemed like one of the primary intentions of Categories was to help specify the production process....but I can't for anything figure out how to get this info to show up in the BOM! It seems like we will have to keep the "Production Process" property after all...

Unless someone knows a workaround? :)

Categories allow to have different properties sets for different kinds of assembly items. We also have custom property for techological process, but if the part is some standard component or material any techology is not applicable so now you can select a subset of properties for standard parts. Though we also need ability to sort BOM based on properties.
